JULY 26TH AT 6:00, JEH KULU DANCE AND DRUM THEATER IN THE FIELD NEXT TO JOHNSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. FREE! FUN! Together, the Lanpher Memorial Library and the Johnson Public Library present: Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theater, a West African performing and educational ensemble who bring West African music and dance to audiences of all ages. The talented ensemble offers exciting, high-energy performances that give a taste of the vibrant culture. Through music and dance, people of all ages and abilities can experience a taste of West African culture. Dance and music are part of daily life there, used to celebrate birth, death, marriage, the harvest and other rites of passage. In Jeh Kulu's performances, they seek to re-create this community experience and foster insight into a different and fascinating culture. Followng the African tradition of participation, they welcome audiences to join them in dance, music and song.
