Banned Books Week 2018 is September 23-29. It brings together the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

Check out our display at the Lanpher Memorial Library and celebrate your Freedom to Read what you choose by checking out a book (audiobook, or DVD) of your choice!

Tuesday, October 9, 6:00 at the Lanpher Memorial Library
Free Parenting Program
Using Picture Books to Support the Emotional and Social Development of Your Child.

Children get angry, sad, frustrated, nervous, happy, embarrassed...but they don't always have the words to talk about how they are feeling.  Understanding emotions is a critical part of children's overall development.  Please join Amy Olsen, (Vermont Early Literacy Initiative trained Librarian) and Marie Olsen, Licensed Mental Health Practitioner and Registered Play Therapist; to learn how children's literature can support your child's social and emotional development.

Participants will receive free books.
Please register as space is limited.  Call Marie Olsen:  802-917-3183 or Lanpher Library 802-888-4628

Look forward to more programs in the Your Child Series:
Tuesday, November 13th 6:00 Discussing Death with Your Child.  (register now)

THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY IN PROMOTING TOLERANCE AND RESPECT

Speakers, Miriam Rosenbloom and Debora Steinerman will also talk about the VTHM's "Leaf Project", by using the analogy of a tree, will help us understand the enormity of 1.5 million children killed during the Holocaust.
This program is Free and open to the General Public.
