In it, she mentioned Abraham Lincoln's second Inaugural Address, given on March 4, 1865, as a "great inaugural masterpiece".
Several years ago, Vermont historian Howard Coffin was doing some research at the Lanpher Library and pointed out a loose insert in our bound copies of the 1865 newspaper. It was Lincoln's second inaugural address printed by the Lamoille Newsdealer. Rather than risk damage or theft, our Trustees had it preserved in an archival frame. It now hangs in the Lanpher Memorial Library outside of the office door for all to see and read.
